The client is the brokerage affiliate of a global investment bank and institutional securities firm with more than 25 offices around the world. As such, it facilitates the execution and settlement of the trading of stocks and options for more than 150 clients, including hedge funds, other broker-dealers, money managers, and other institutions.

The VeriFIX Solution

The client needed a uniform and easy-to-use FIX testing tool for development and QA purposes. In late 2004, they requested demos and trial versions of VeriFIX from GFT in order to determine whether it would fill the needs of his operation.

The rest is history. "From there on, we found it to be customizable enough for us to do what we needed to do," the customer says.

Today, the client's development team and QA and production staff use the VeriFIX platform for two main purposes: One, for formulating custom messages to test message variance - to test new codes or existing codes that may have been changed or need to be tested. Two, for production applications such as regression testing. In production, it is used as a post-deployment testing tool, where the client runs various scripts against production to ensure that previously good messages are still good to the system.

VeriFIX has helped this client realize development, QA, and production benefits, as well as unexpected boosts in productivity from improved collaboration. In fact, it has become an invaluable tool, providing more reliable QA procedures and more reliable deployment tests.
